Finally, the first book shipment of the year has arrived! It's just in time too, with the temp dipping below zero the only thing I want to do is curl up underneath a warm blank with a good book and hibernate, I'm sure I'm not alone in this either.
For the Teens there's a wide selection to choose from. I've gotten in the newest book from the Twilight series Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer, unfortunately I don't have the 3rd one yet, but it will be coming soon so keep stopping by to see if it's here. Fans of the Harry Potter series know what an important part The Tales of Beedle the Bard played in the 7th book, now they can read Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling for themselves. The 5th book from the #1 bestselling series by Erin Hunter is here; Warriors Power of Three: Long Shadows. Groosham Grange by Anthony Horowitz, the author of the Alex Rider Adventure series, looks to be a little less adventures and a little more frightening. If you prefer humor to horror try out Spanking Shakespeare by Jake Wizner. The second book of The Looking Glass Wars, Seeing Redd by Frank Beddor and the fourth book of the Ember series The Diamond of Darkhold is here. If you like Magic and Fantasy try out the first book of the new trilogy A Resurrection of Magic: Skin Hunger by Kathleen Duey. A fan of Mystery? Death by Latte by Linda Gerber looks to provide a lot of mystery and maybe a little humor.
The middle readers can choose anything from Goosebumps to Penguins. Just when you think R.L. Stine is done creating new series he comes up with a new version of the old Goosebumps called HorrorLand. Not only can you read the books, you get to collect tickets to enter HorrorLand online, try it out with the new book Goosebumps HorrorLand: Dr. Maniac vs. Robby Schwartz. 6th grade Science Fair is soon coming, find out how Amelia survives in Amelia's Science Fair Disaster by Marissa Moss. Hilarious, and a little strange, is the 3rd book from the Underwhere series by Bruce Hale, Flyboy of Underwhere. Middle School can be a bit scary but the book Middle School Confidential: Be Confident in Who You Are by Annie Fox may help. This books, written in graphic novel form, is not only real and funny but gives tips and tools to help you deal with real life issues. Penguins and Antarctica by Mary Pope Osborne is a Nonfiction Companion to Magic Tree House: Eve of the Emperor Penguin. If you love horses you'll love Fosta: Marathon Master by Judy Andrekson. Violet Raines Almost Got Struck by Lightning by Danette Haworth is about a spunky girl not afraid of anything who learns a few lessons, including how not to be afraid of herself.
I Spy with My Little Eye: Hockey by Matt Napier is a children's version of the original I Spy books, can you find the differences in the pictures? Kids who need to wear glasses don't always want to, but the book Luna and the Big Blur: A Story for Children Who Wear Glasses by Shirley Day may help. What's Under the Bed by Joe Fenton takes a humorous look and an otherwise frightening childhood fear. Anyone who has eaten school lunch knows how unpredictable it can be and things that look or sound bad often end up in the garbage, but Mucumber McGee and the Lunch Lady's Liver by Patrick Loehr shows you can't always go by looks as to how something tastes. Celebrate the Anniversary of the Angelina Ballerina books by checking out this Anniversary edition of the original Angelina Ballerina by Katharine Holabird. Children will be inspired by the beautiful illustrations and wonderful text of Imagine A Day by Sarah L. Thomson. Snoring Beauty by Bruce Hale (who also writes the series Chet Gecko and Underwhere) is a take off the beloved fairy tale Sleeping Beauty with a humorous twist.
With Valentines Day on the way there's also a variety of Valentine books and movies, and to go along with the cold cold cold we've been having don't forget to check out a few winter books also. Happy reading, and try to stay warm!
